I am a former award-winning sports writer who left journalism for more money. That makes me sound greedy. I left journalism so I could eat.

I am a lifelong Midwesterner (Illinois, Missouri, Kansas) who relocated with my wife to Colorado in 2019. We love it. Since moving here, I’ve picked up a new hobby: going hiking or walking on mountain trails when I can. The scenery is breathtaking. I like to enjoy it with my wife, or when alone, pop in an audiobook or some tunes. I’m an insufferable music nerd too.

I love to read. I try to finish 60 books per year, but I might adjust that down to 45 or 50 now that I’m working a lot. I bring my Kindle everywhere. I also love to write. I don’t do it for fun that much anymore since I now do it for money. When I’m in the flow, I’m doing it for fun and for money.

We have two cats. Or should I say they have me? They’re always hungry, always wanting my attention, and they don’t let me sleep at night, but I still love them too much.
